Main uses of Shell Naturelle S2 HF 68 are:
Shell Naturelle S2 68 Hydraulic Fluid is an advanced biodegradable and HFDU type less flammable hydraulic fluid for use in hydraulic and power transmission systems. It is readily biodegradable with a low ecotoxicity, particularly suited for use in environmentally sensitive areas and in industrial equipment operating in areas subject to fire hazards, such as in steel mills, surface mines and foundries. Fully synthetic esters, blended with ashless additives, provide Shell Naturelle S2 HF 68 with a superior blend of lubrication performance and environmental acceptability.
Hydraulic systems and hydraulic power transmissions in sensitive ecological environments can be subject to strong temperature variations. Due to the natural very high viscosity index (VI), Shell Naturelle Fluid HF-E 68 has an optimal viscosity at low start-up temperatures as well as under very heavy (fully loaded) load conditions.
The excellent anti-wear properties and high viscosity index (VI) of Shell Naturelle Fluid HF-E 68 means that it can often be used where ISO 11158 (HM /HV) and DIN 51524 Part 2 or Part 3 (HLP /HVLP) mineral hydraulic oils are prescribed. For optimum service life of the hydraulic oil, the operating temperature of the oil should not exceed 90 C.
Shell Naturelle Fluid HF-E 68 is an environmentally friendly hydraulic fluid (ISO 15380 HEES), with ‘reduced soil and water damage during use’ (European Ecolabel). Compared with conventional mineral hydraulic oils, it has a reduced ecological impact in the event of leaks or sudden oil loss due to an accident and meets the requirements of the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s EPA 2013 Vessel General Permit (EPA). VGP) for use in marine applications.
Shell Naturelle Fluid HF-E 68 can be mixed with mineral hydraulic oils. However, to indicate that the biodegradable properties and proper functioning are maintained when men switch to a different fluid, it is necessary that the hydraulic systems are properly drained and flushed.
Guidelines for an oil change can be found in ISO 15380 Appendix A. Shell Naturelle Fluid HF-E 68 can cause old deposits to come loose during use, especially if the system previously operated on mineral hydraulic oil. It is therefore important to check the filters on a comparable basis after the transition to Shell Naturelle HF-E 68.
Shell Naturelle Fluid HF-E 68 is compatible with hydronated nitrille (HNBR) and with fluoro sealing materials (FPM / FKM) such as Viton®. Depending on the elastomer degree, it is also compatible with polyester urethane (AU) elastomers.
Other sealing materials and components such as paint, on the other hand, can be affected and we therefore recommend that you consult the respective constructors.
Advanced shaftless (anti-wear) anti-wear additives provide protection over a wide range of temperatures, proven in stringent industrial tests such as the Eaton Vickers 35VQ25 vane pump industry standard testing and the Komatsu HPV35 +35 high pressure piston pump.
The excellent viscosity /temperature properties can minimize the fluctuation of viscosity at varying operating temperatures and thus give real ‘multigrade’ properties to the product. Superior cleanliness and filterability, together with excellent water separation, air separation and anti-foam properties contribute to or enhance the hydraulic system efficiency. The filterability of Shell Naturelle Fluid HF-E 68 is maintained even in the presence of water.
Shell Naturelle Fluid HF-E 68 contains on average more than 80% components of biological origin (ASTM D6866) and is more than 60% biodegradable after 28 days in the OECD 301 B carbon dioxide degradability test. Shell Naturelle Fluid HF-E 68 is classified as “harmless” to bacteria, algae, freshwater and marine invertebrates and fish when tested as water-accommodated fractions (WAFs) according to the OECD and EPA test guidelines.
+ Shell Naturelle Fluid HF-E 68 is a highly flammable hydraulic oil with a high flash point and a high auto-ignition temperature to reduce the risk of fire and /or explosion.
