• Compatibility with sealing materials. Shell Gas Compressor Oil S4 PV can be used with various common sealing materials such as butyl, nitrile, neoprene and viton. Special care should be taken when changing the oil system from mineral oil to Shell Gas Compressor Oil S4 PV. Gaskets that are normally used with mineral oil and swell slightly can now remain unchanged or even shrink when Shell Gas Compressor Oil S4 PV is used despite the same materials. Leaks can be the result of worn or damaged seals. When changing the oil, it is therefore strongly recommended that new gaskets be fitted.
• Note on oil change. Shell Gas Compressor Oil S4 PV contains polyalkene glycols and is not miscible with petroleum-based products like most synthetic products. Special changeover procedures must be followed when changing from a mineral oil based product to Shell Gas Compressor Oil S4 PV
